Good sleep is important for preventing disease. The new study published in the American Journal of Stroke suggests that sleeping 7 to 8 hours a night will have the best anti-stroke effect.
Researchers at the University of New York School of Medicine surveyed the incidence of stroke in nearly 290,000 adults, as well as their lifestyle, age, ethnicity, daily sleep time, and daily exercise time.
The results showed that sleep 7 to 8 hours per night, 3 to 6 times a week, 30 to 60 minutes each time, the greatest benefit to prevent stroke. Among them, sleeping seven or eight hours a night can reduce the risk of stroke by 25%. If you sleep for more than 8 hours, the risk will increase by 146%.
Less than 7 hours will increase the risk of stroke by 22%. Scientists believe that too much or too little sleep will reduce the quality of sleep, while the disordered sleep pattern will damage memory, stimulate cerebral vasoconstriction, and the risk of stroke increases.
There are other benefits to ensuring 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night: a study by the Harvard School of Public Health found that sleeping 7 to 8 hours a night can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in women; researchers at Warwick University found that every night Sleeping less than 6 hours or more than 8 hours will reduce memory and decision making.
